I tried this brand of fish food several months ago when I needed something suitable for newborn fry. I came across their Newborn Baby Fish Food, and the fry absolutely loved it — they grew very well on it. Now that those same frys have matured and I ran out of my previous leftover goldfish food from another brand, I decided to go back to a brand I already trusted and picked up this goldfish food from the same company.I didn’t hesitate to get the fish food because I already know the quality of their products. That said, this particular fish food isn’t cheap — the 1.76 oz container cost $10 at the time of writing, which breaks down to about $5.67 per ounce. If you're looking for better value, I recommend going with the larger 4.23 oz or 15 oz containers. Still, this food is made with high-quality ingredients and provides all the necessary nutrition for goldfish that cheaper food lacks. The pellets are small, flat discs, around 3–4 mm (roughly 0.1–0.15 inches) in diameter. They’re a good size for goldfish that are at least 1.5 inches long. My fish (Shubunkins) have grown from fry to about 2–3 inches, and this pellet size is perfect for them. I also have two Wakins that are about 5–6 inches, and while the pellets are a bit small for them, they still eat them — I just supplement their diet with larger pellets. These pellets tend to float for a while before sinking, likely due to their flat shape. The manufacturer also describes them as slow-sinking. If you keep fancy goldfish varieties, this could be a concern. Fancy goldfish are more prone to swim bladder issues, which can be aggravated if they gulp air while feeding at the surface. If you plan to use these pellets, I recommend pre-soaking them to help them sink faster and reduce the risk. Since I keep Shubunkins and Wakins — hardier breeds that are less prone to such issues — this is a problem for me.Overall, this is a high-quality fish food. While it’s a bit pricey in the smaller size, it’s made with excellent ingredients, and my fish genuinely enjoy it. Just keep in mind the pellet float for a while before sinking — if you have fancy goldfish — consider soaking the pellets or opting for a sinking type.

At first, His Majesty was skeptical. He watched the crips float (he usually does that when faced with unfamiliar food). He examined them. Most importantly, he waited until I was out of his sight - maybe to ensure that there were no courtly expectations being placed on him. I mean, you cannot force the ruler of the tank to eat, right? But then, he started nibbling. Now? There is no hesitation at all. No diplomacy. Ragnar accepts the tribute, and he launches at these crisps without mercy. This is not a nibble - it is an attack. That being said, my guppies (in a different tank) were a little intimidated - for once, I saw them retreat from food (really a first, these little ones eat everything) as the morsels were hard and too big for them. They needed a bit softening before being... eliminated. As a human, I appreciate the ingredient list, which includes sardines, prawn and pupae. And I like the fact that the water seems to stay clearer than with cheaper foods. What I appreciate the most, though (don't tell Ragnar, please) is watching him go after the slow-sinking crisps: His Majesty enjoys being dramatic when he hunts his food, and I enjoy watching him.A few days later, Ragnar's appetite seems more... assertive. Whether it's the nutrients, the taste or the joy of battle, I cannot say. Ragnar denies everything, of course. But for sure the food has passed the test of a pretty picky fish. So, 10/10 from him...

This is one of the few times when I feel like 5 stars is not adequate. I have a single, ordinary household goldfish that is nothing special and had no ambition to be. Even though it's just a plain goldfish, it has a fairly good existence in a well kept tank, eating generic goldfish, slow sinking food. That's his life. Well, now I got this shrimp delight special goldfish food and I couldn't believe the reaction. First, the food crisps smell fresh, yucky to me but wonderful of I we're a fish. You can tell it's made with some good things and the label confirms it. The ingredients list leaves nothing out. It's a complete meal for Fishy. I have a routine for my fish: I turn off his bubbler and then I feed him. He knows the routine: bubbles off =food. When I dropped these new food crisps in he did his usual until he got close enough to notice a change in odor and tried one. Wow! He literally got the zoomies! Not only did my goldfish go on a feeding frenzy, he spent the rest of the day digging up the bottom of his tank searching for any remnants! I've been feeding this food to him consistently for several weeks now and he's still crazy for it! This company has a permanent customer now!

I've been feeding my goldfish this food for about 4 days, and what more can I say: they love the food and seem to go after it pretty enthusiastically.Different than the typical flake food I give my goldfish, these are more of a pellet type shape, and when you drop them into the tank they spend a while floating at the surface, then begin to drop at intervals and the fish shoot by and gobble them up as they fall. Some of the fish will also eat them at the surface, but in general there is a lot more swimming and chasing these around than the usual flake food, which is nice because the fish can spread out a bit more and find food at dinner time without competing with the other fish at the surface. These pellets are small enough even for some fairly small goldfish to eat, but fish below a certain size will not be able to swallow the whole thing in their mouth and tend to pick at them. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of if you have smaller goldfish. The container has plenty of food to last a good while for my small 10 gallon 5 fish tank. So the value here is solid.Overall, very happy with these.

This is a nice treat for the fish. It's easier than figs and fruit to deliver a quick reward. I like to encourage the fish to swim to my hand, but they all do things at different times so I haven't trained them to shoot hoops or any cool trucks. It's just a bit of fun to feel them nudging and munching or swimming through my fingers. My oldest fish is a one-eyed black moor who is turning orange underneath. He's my fav! I do have 2 small oranges that I hope get mutant sized heads! When they get bigger I hope to feed the koi or shebunkin by mouth one at a time if they rest in the shallow :). I saw pictures of kids feeding koi in professional gardens. The food comes with a small spoon. I like this fish food.Score key:⭐️ 1 star= Dissappointed. I don't recommend it at all, poor quality, or it does not reflect the advertising.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars = Has some reedeeming quality.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars = It's passable. Might not have bothered.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars = Mostly Satisified.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars = Entirely Satisfied. Recommend.

I recently picked up the Ultra Fresh Apex Goldfish Growth Crisps for my aquarium, and I have to say, I’m quite pleased with them. The first thing I noticed was the quality of the ingredients. It’s comforting to know that it's made from all-natural components. When I first fed these crisps to my goldfish, they seemed really excited! The slow sinking feature is great, as it gives them time to nibble at their food rather than fighting over flakes that float on the surface. I’ve noticed that my fish seem to be more active and vibrant since I switched their food. The packaging is nice and easy to open, which is definitely a plus for me. Plus, the 1.76 oz size is just right for my small setup—it doesn’t take up much space, and I feel like it will last a while.Overall, I’d say if you’re looking for a good quality fish food that your goldfish will love, give these crisps a try. They've definitely made me feel better about what I'm feeding my little aquatic friends!

I've tried a lot of goldfish foods over the years, and Ultra Fresh Apex Goldfish Growth Crisps easily stands out as one of the best. From the first week of feeding, I noticed improved color, stronger activity levels, and steady, healthy growth in my goldfish. The Sword Prawn Growth Formula is clearly high quality; the ingredients list is excellent, and you can tell this food is made with care and science behind it.Another big plus is how clean the food burns - no cloudy water, no excess waste, and no foul smell. My filtration system stays cleaner, and water parameters remain stable, which is huge for long-term fish health. The packaging is compact but packed with nutrition, and a little goes a long way. For a premium goldfish food, the price is absolutely fair for the results you get. The only thing that wasn’t to my satisfaction was that they didn’t sink like they were supposed to.

Ultra Fresh Apex Goldfish Growth Crisps, Premium All Natural Ingredients Goldfish Fish Food, Slow Sinking, 1.76 oz is great goldfish food! My fish eat it heartily. The food does not foul or discolor my aquarium water. The food is more like pellets than flakes, but it doesn't drop to the bottom like a bunch of tiny rocks. Some of the food does sink to the bottom after a few seconds. Most of the food remains floating for quite a wile. The included dosing spoon is quite handy. I travel a lot and it's virtually impossible to convince a non-fish owner how little food 2 goldfish actually eat, especially in my tiny wall aquarium. Now I can just say use 1/2 a spoonful. I am very pleased with this food. Definitely 5 stars.

I have used this brand’s fry food which is excellent so when I saw this food I was excited to try it on my larger pond Shubunkins. Unfortunately the pellet size is just a bit small for my larger Shubunkin goldfish and too big for the juveniles I currently have but I did test it on the larger goldfish anyway and they went nuts for it. I will definitely be using it to grow out my juveniles in about a month when they are large enough to eat it. I think the size will be perfect for most aquarium sized goldfish. I like that it sinks, some immediately and the rest within a minute or so, this is important for some types of goldfish to prevent them from ingesting too much air with their food but not as big a deal for Shubunkins.
